Folding@Home má nového GPU klienta. Z 6.11bety3 skočil na 6.11beta5 a nabízí i zobrazení 3D bílkoviny. Stahovat můžete ze Stanfordu:

Při pokusu o reinstal se stále hlasil jako beta3, bylo nutno starý odinstalovat a pak hodit nový... Následně se objevil problém s nějakým chybějícím .dll, který odstranil restart PC... bílkovina se třepe jako by měla Parkinsona

tyhle bilkoviny si uziju dost na PS3, tam bohuzel nejde vypnout... snazim se hlavne hnat na zebricku vejs a vejs
betu sem preinstaloval zrovna vcera, kdyz me napadlo ze asi bude nova verze

FireStream 9250 do 1U "serveru"

...pokud dobře počítám, tak by se tam měli vejít 4 kousky, tzn. 4 Tflops v single-precision a 800 Gflops v double-precision výpočtech...Pokud těmi 1U "servery" zaplní celý rack (20U), tak bude výpočetní výkon "bestiální"

Here's what's new in the 6.20 client:
- Added Forums to systray menu.
- Support cpu affinity by default, this is related to an nVidia problem and awaits core-side changes.
- Add additional parameters field in advanced preferences - no more shortcut editing!!!
- UNSTABLE_MACHINE count reset after a correctly finished WU, for long-running systems
- Open configuration dialog box when invalid settings detected
- Fixed core launch directory which caused auto-upgrades to fail if core was present in "Program Files"
- Added additional advanced config options to console clients
- Added MachineID selector in systray gui
- Client shows PRCG on results upload
- Passkey now validated for hex content
- Moved service installation to advanced config to prevent inadvertant use
- Log date and time when automatically attempting to upload results.
- Correctly restore system tray icon when shell (explorer.exe) crashes
- Significantly improved queueinfo
- Multiple copies of the client can no longer be started with the same "start in" dir
- Automatically increase packet limit to max size for results that are too large
- Failed uploads will be attempted again using alternative upload port (8080->80 and 80->8080)
- Removed spurious "benchmarking..." messages
- Added extra_parms support to console clients
- Extra parameters are validated at configuration and launch time. Invalid settings will force reconfiguration
- Fixed and updated service installation to allow use of working directories
- Added ATI FireStream 9170 detection
- Compressed Vista icon to reduce size of executable (saves ~ 200kb)
- Updated MyFolding.html to match folding.stanford.edu style

zdravim, mam dotaz ohledne ATi Stream a to zda to podporuji pouze grafiky rady 48xx nebo vsechny rady HD. Dik za odpoved.

Zatím to ovladače umožňují pouze pro HD4800 a HD4600, časem by to mohlo jít na všechny HDXXXX karty...

AMD/ATi ohlašují podporu OpenCL 1.0
AMD is a founding and contributing member of the OpenCL working group in The Khronos Group, and has consistently been one of the most vocal and active proponents of the standard. AMD is committed to getting this valuable new technology into the hands of programmers as quickly as possible, and is rapidly evolving its free ATI Stream SDK to make it happen. AMD is making good progress on its OpenCL-compliant offering and plans to release a developer version of the ATI Stream SDK with support for OpenCL 1.0 for content developers in the first half of 2009. Working from early specifications of OpenCL, AMD’s engineering team has already started running code on its initial implementation.
AMD also continues to improve its Brook+ tools and plans to provide a transition path for those who want to port their Brook+ code to OpenCL. Brook+ is an open source, high-level programming framework provided by AMD as part of the free ATI Stream SDK.
Building on the significant enhancements of ATI Stream SDK 1.3, version 1.4 is being designed to add finer grain data type support, graphics API interoperability, multi-GPU support and thread-level data sharing to Brook+. It is also being enhanced to add improved support for the ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 graphics cards and to include support for several ATI FirePro 3D graphics accelerators. AMD expects to release version 1.4 of the ATI Stream SDK in the first quarter of 2009.

Mohl bych se na neco zeptat ohledne toho OpenCL.
To je nejaka GPGPU akcelrace ze? Bude to nejake API jako DirectX, takze programatori budou pres tento standard programovat pro GPU? A bude nutne pro toto API treba navrhnout graficke jadro jako je tomu u DirectX nebo bude stacit jenom nejaky ovladac?

Jak jsi psal, je to API (stejně jako OpenGL a DirectX), stačí vydat ovladače s jeho podporou a MS a Khronos Group (má na svědomí i OpenGL) se postarají o jeho implementaci do systémů.

Pokud vim, tak pro podporu DirectX je treba navrhnout jadro (nebo se pletu?). Takze na grafice radeon x1950 mi DX 10.1 fungovat nebude. Pak jsem se ptal k cemu presne OpenCL je. DirectX je API pro tvorbu pc her, OpenGL neco podobneho, ale pouziva se treba i na CAD aplikace, me by zajimalo OpenCL. Na tuto otazku jsem si ale asi sam odpovedel: "Je to nejaka GPGPU akcelrace" coz je podle nazvu threadu zrejme.
